The University’s alumni office is keen to hear from current students interested in volunteering at a Welcome to Cambridge pre-arrival event.

You’ll help welcome the new students attending and share your experiences of living and studying in Cambridge. This is a great opportunity to make a direct and considerable difference towards helping newcomers settle in and to widen your own networks.

Help is needed at events in:

Birmingham, Bradford, Cambridge, Dorset, Edinburgh, Exeter, Guildford, Harrogate, Manchester, Moscow (Russia), Newcastle upon Tyne, Peterborough, Sussex, Valencia (Spain), Vienna (Austria) and York.

What are welcome to Cambridge pre-arrival events?

They take place around the world in August and September and allow incoming students to:

  • meet other newcomers, current students and alumni
  • gather advice on living and studying in Cambridge
  • benefit from some useful tips from others from their area/country

…before they even arrive in Cambridge.

The events have been run for a number of years thanks to the University’s volunteer-led Alumni Groups, of which there are more than 450 globally.
